It’s predicted that there will be more than 4.8 billion individuals using a mobile phone by the end of 2016. Due to this colossal number as well as the potential growth that mobile devices present, we can expect to see mobile payments evolve to meet the growing demands of users.
Whether you run a restaurant or a shop, being able to offer up-to-date ways for customers to pay is always going to be a benefit. As contactless and mobile payments become more common, people expect that these options will be available to them wherever they go. Failing to keep up with the most up-to-date payment processes can result in potential customers choosing to go elsewhere next time around.
All of our South Coast Payments PDQ terminals include Apple Pay, the mobile payment and digital wallet service by Apple. This allows customers to make payments at point of sale, via iOS apps and online without the use of a credit or debit card. The payment method is similar to contactless payments and uses near field communication to connect wirelessly.
Apple Pay is compatible with many Apple products including most iPhones and the Apple Watch. Much like contactless card payments, in the UK, mobile payments without verification are limited to £30 to protect the user against fraud. Touch ID or a passcode can be used to make payments of a higher value, however, merchants need to ensure that their terminal software is up-to-date to support the latest contactless specifications.
At South Coast Payments we are experts in our field and pride ourselves on being ahead of the game with the latest payment methods. We are constantly seeking ways to help make our clients’ payment methods more efficient and make sure we keep up-to-date with changing specifications and requirements.
